At Xtant’s textile event ‘FIBRA 2023’  in Spain, Chinar Farooqui, our founder presented ‘The Sheltering Sky’,

The artwork draws inspiration from a vintage Kediyun created nearly fourteen years ago, reinterpreting it through a contemporary lens while honoring its origins.

The work insisted on being interactive as a stepwell is experienced from within, moving with the visitor as air, shadow, and layering shape the space.

This exhibition presents Chikankari as a form of invisible monumentality. It is an immersive experience. Drawing from the rich visual language of Mughal miniature paintings, the acoustics of domestic labor, and the tactile lives of textiles once worn by nobility.
